Hi, I’m Tamkara
Karama Foundation was founded by Tamkara Irimagha (Adun), shaped by her own experience of navigating intimate partner violence, post-separation abuse, and rebuilding.
What began as a deeply personal experience became a process of understanding and naming the different forms that abuse can take, including coercive control, financial abuse, and the use of legal systems as a means of continued abuse. It also brought into focus the complex barriers many women face when seeking safety, navigating separation, accessing support, and rebuilding their lives.
Karama Foundation was born from the belief that no woman should have to face these challenges alone.
Today, Karama works alongside women, communities, and trusted partners to provide access to contextual knowledge, relevant information, practical resources, mutual aid, and trusted support. We are building a community rooted in collective care, where women can find connection, practical assistance, and pathways to the support they need.
We help women recognise harm, understand their options, make informed decisions, navigate change with greater confidence, and rebuild their lives with safety, dignity, hope, and autonomy.
If you are experiencing abuse, navigating separation, or rebuilding your life, you do not have to face it alone. Connect with us to explore the support and resources available to you.
Many women know something is wrong long before they have the language to name it. They may be experiencing intimate partner violence, coercive control, financial abuse, or post-separation abuse without fully recognising what is happening or knowing where to turn for support.
Even when they do, practical barriers such as fear, financial dependence, isolation, legal complexity, cultural expectations, and limited access to trusted information can make leaving, rebuilding, or seeking help feel overwhelming.
Karama was created to bridge that gap. We believe every woman deserves access to clear information, practical support, trusted pathways, and a community that walks alongside her. Through education, collective care, mutual aid, and trusted partnerships, we help women recognise harm, understand their options, access practical support, and rebuild with safety, dignity, hope, and autonomy.
